Hello friends,

My name is Remzi. I am from istanbul-Turkey.
I have a 1990 fj1200 for 1 year. It runs great.
However, I got some problems to be fixed such as slipping clutch, valve cover gasquet, carb sync.
Any way it is a good bike and I like it.
Here are some pics. and 1 minute video riding alongside the Bosphorus.

Can you tell us, why you picked this particular club?

and what is wrong with your clutch, valve cover gasket,and carbs?

I think ,that we (offcourse) are willing to help you if we can.

Hi Beertje,

I picked this club because it is the ceografically nearest club to me.
As an FJ rider I have not seen any other FJ rider in my country. Therefore unable to share neither experiance, nor discuss common problems etc.

Well the clutch, I think it shoul be replaced, because it is slipping in hard accleration. Revs rising but bike stay in place.
Valve cover gasqet spills oil. After 500 km ride I lost 1 liter of oil.
Carbs need need to be syncronized, this can be done, but sometime engine dying when I apply full throtle. I dont know how to fix it yet.

Any way, riding fj is a good pleasure.

The clutch problem might not be a big problem. It could be that you are using full syntetic Oil wich made some of the fj1200 slip more often with hard throttle.

It also could be that the Dyafragme spring (dont know the exact english word) needs replacing aore you can put an extra spring behind the original (problem solved). When thats not it than it maybe has to be replaced. (try this out first and you will save yourself a lot of money.)

Furthermore. Isanbul is not very fare from Hemrik (small dutch place) We have a bike meeting there this weekend. Maybe you can come.

I have been for 4 jears in a row on holliday in Turkye, it is a nice country,
The longest trip i made in your country was from Antalya to Ismir, then to Kucadashe and by the coast road back to Antalya.
A very long ride, but beautiful seeings

Hi Remzi.,

a lot of dutch do not speak dutch

your valve cover gasket can be out of place.,
you must open the valve cover and check it.,
it is a rubber cover, you should be able to use it again,and again.,
there are some sharp bends in this rubber gasket,
there you have to apply some liquid gasket for a better closing,
and be aware of the fact ,that you tighten the valve cover bolts with 20NM or approx 2Kgm.,
it is important not to overthigten your valve cover bolts! 

i think your machine dying at full throttle is not a synchronisation problem, but more a mixture problem, not enough air of not enough gas., or just to warm ., but i am not sure on this, maybe other clubmembers know more

looked at your movie., i have never seen the bosporus, so have seen it now.,

I,m a day longer here than you  but i like it already.
You have problems with your engine?
Are you sure there isn;t a Wakisaki engine on board?
Hehe my last z1100 exploded after 150.000 kms of battle.

is Holland geocrafically nearer than the german club to you ?
the german fj-club is separated in smaller parts because it's a much bigger country than holland
so I can imaging you choose our club 

Nice FJ you have, what kind of mirrors did you use?
they are looking great to me.
